God Sink the Desert

You’re dry;

Dead.

Where’s the sweat of your brow?

Lost?

Hidden.

What worth do you endow?

Ugly.

Hideous!

I hate the cracks in your skin,

The prickles on your chin,

And your glare…

It burns like sin!

You lie,

Deceive us with a glow…

But that pink and purple sunrise

Is just cheap makeup

For the skies.

I’d like to cut you off the map,

Throw you in the sea!

Watch your desert canyons

Turn into caverns too deep to see.

Sure, those cactus flowers

Bloom vibrantly for me,

But screw them!

Let them sink!

I’d rather have a tree!

Tall, beautiful, verdant…

Leaves that change by the season…

Bright birds that sing…

Oh, isn’t that enough reason?

Who stays in a desert like this?

God knows it won’t be me!

Someday I’ll get away.

I’ll run, I’ll fly, I’ll flee!

…In other words, I NEED TO MOVE VERY FAR AWAY. UGH.
